The Royal British Legion  Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion is a charity organisation in Britain and was founded in 1921 as a "voice" for the veterans. The needs of former militaries have changed throughout the years but The Legion is still there to make sure the interest and the memory of them is guaranteed. British soldiers know, should they now or in the future be in need of aid, they can count on the Legion. The Legion gives financial, social and emotional support to millions of soldiers and their next of kin. At this moment almost 10,5 million people receive aid by The Royal British Legion. Moreover the Legion receives thousands of calls each year with requests for aid.

The Royal British Legion makes sure that we do not forget who gave their lives for our freedom. They are responsible for the two minutes silence on the British "memorial Sunday" (march past at the Cenotaph). They also organise the annual “Festival of Remembrance” at the Royal Albert Hall in remembrance for the armistice of WW-I on November 11, 1918 .
